✦ Design & Development ✦
This project focuses on designing and developing a digital signage system for Durham College, aimed at
improving how information is communicated across campus environments.
The objective was to create a visually engaging and functional interface that mirrors real-world campus
signage systems — combining design, motion, and live data into a cohesive experience. Inspired by
broadcast-style layouts similar to news channels, the system integrates multiple content zones into a
single unified display.
The approach was centered around clarity, hierarchy, and real-time usability. The design direction focused on structured layout systems dividing the screen into multiple panels (news, weather, ticker, video, etc.) to organize content efficiently, brand consistency aligning with Durham College's established identity, and information hierarchy so users can absorb content at a glance.
The final output was a fully realized digital signage prototype built using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. The screen was divided into functional sections including a logo and time display panel, a news and announcement section, a live ticker for continuous updates, a weather information panel, and video and motion graphics areas for promotional content.
